So I titled this blog just me and I think it is about time I do work something about myself into a post. In this case it will be the part of me that is a casual gamer. I am sure that a lot of people have seen the commercials for the recently released video game Halo 3: ODST and at some point in the commercials it was stated that if you pre-ordered the game you would get a special code to unlock the palyable character Sgt Johnson who is a main character in the Halo video game series. Now this was the first time that this ever occurred to my knowledge. The only other way you could get special content otherwise was by buying a more expensive collectors like version. The reason I have chosen to write about is because I personally have taken part in this with the a game coming out in November called Assassin's Creed 2. In this particular situation that extra content was an extra in game map. To me it seems that more gaming companies are doing this to convince buyers to buy the more expensive version. The other part of this is that you could/can only pre-order the game at Gamestop. It owuld seem that both game developing companies and the game retailers are starting to team up in a way to make gamers buy the more expensive version which a few hardcore gamers may have only bought prior to having special in game content available with the more expensive version.
So that is my side of the story. Has anyone else seen anything similar anywhere else whether it be movies, clothing, concerts, etc.?
