Who Else but Quentin Tarantino

Ok so I was just reading through chapter three of the textbook and it started to remind me of a movie that a friend of mine bought maybe a couple of weeks ago. Now the title of the movie is "True Romance" and when he told me that it was a romance movie I just stared at him because this friend of mine is no where near the type of person that would enjoy a romance movie. I pretty much had to grill him for about five minutes until he told me it was made by Quentin Tarantino. If anyone has ever seen any other Tarantino movie(s) you can probably figure out that this movie isn't what some guys would classify as a chick flick.

The reason that chapter 3 reminded me of this movie is because of how it mentions that there are many movies out there now that fit into multiple genres. If I were to try and fit "True Romance" into some genre categories I would say it fits into the categories of a mob movie, action movie, maybe comedy, and obviously romance. So I suggest that if you are in the mood for a movie that may have some sappy parts in it, but also gets you to say, "WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED," I would suggest checking out "True Romance".

  1. Sound like a good flick to me, I'll have to go out and rent it. Don't know if you've already seen it but another movie that you just reminded me of is called Hapiness. It also dosn't exactly fit into any one genre and makes you say the sameeee thing. I highly recommend it to anyone with an open sense of humor, especially if you like Tarantino.

  2. True Romance is an amazing film. It takes the love story, Bonnie and Clyde scenario and stylizes it. I personally think it has one of the greatest exchanges in film history, between Walken and Hopper.

  3. It's interesting how a director like Tarentino can change things up a bit and do a movie that could be catagorized as a 'romance'. I haven't seen this movie though, but I'll definately have to check it out.

  4. That does sound like a very good movie. A movie I would recommend as well is Choke. Its based on a book by Fight Club writer Chuck Palaniuk. Its virtually a love story, but well not your conventional one
